Free Spirit - Drake

I don’t know about no tattoo but umm can we negotiate a twitter or facebook couple default picture??

Lil Wayne flips out, in pure toddler-temper tantrum form, on stage when he tried to perform “Nightmares Of The Bottom” and a fan got a little over zealous. Lil Wayne even went as far as to tell whomever screamed out while he was trying to be serious that he didn’t want them as a fan and to never buy one of his albums again. In his opinion, a real fan would never continue to talk after he told them to try to be quiet.

You had your chance at having an intimate crowd at Unplugged Wayne and you turned it into a concert. You missed your chance at having a silent crowd. Smh @ his behavior.

Too biased when it comes to critiquing Cudi so I’ll just leave this here.

Mr. Rager - Kid Cudi

I go to ticketmaster to purchase my tickets for the j. cole concert and got hit with this screen. Thinking it’s some sort of error, I go back and try different options. Nope. Same result. I go to the venue’s site to find out that the concert is sold out. Ticketmaster needs to find a more direct way of letting you down. Don’t be giving me false hope when there’s no more tickets available.

“showed love to you n*ggas, you ripped out my heart and you step on it. I picked up the pieces before you swept on it……shit feeling like death, don’t it? charge it to the game, whatever’s left on it.”

Why it can’t be like the old days? Maybe cause me and you stuck in our old ways…..Closer than close. Closer than most.

I never thought I would be doing anything more than laughing at a Bow Wow song and here I am actually liking one. Old school samples get me EVERY TIME!

Pain is more relatable and when Bow does a love lost song it’s more believable than any of his “street cred” songs.

The Weeknd x Dry Box

Today’s shower soundtrack was The Weeknd’s “Thursday”. While trying desperately (and failing miserably) to make out words over the loud sound of water hitting the bath tub (i was in the corner waiting for the water to get hot), I asked myself “Why the fluff do I even like The Weeknd?” I mean “Thursday” has even less words than “House of Balloons” and I didn’t even think that was possible. Even when I listen to his music through headphones, there’s still a lot of “lyrics” I can’t comprehend. And then it hit me, I listen to The Weeknd because he makes sexy music.

I know a lot of people say that about his music but let me explain my take on it. The Weeknd’s music is like the moment leading up to a first kiss, the tension in the room between you and your movie mate after witnessing a mind blowing “i wonder if we’ll try this later” sex scene, that last “once over” you give yourself in the mirror after you’ve applied your favorite Victoria’s Secret’s body lotion/body mist with the matching bra and boy shorts set to finish it off. Basically, I like listening to The Weeknd because his music builds anticipation. His music is like foreplay, it sets me up for that split second after that last kiss hits the “shit just got real” switch.

Although a shitload of people will say that listening to The Weeknd makes them horny or instantly wets their box (hey twitter is a source for ridiculous metaphors) I wouldn’t go that far to say that a guy who is full of harmonies, adlibs, drug references, and no solid lyrics will make me want to fluff someone on sight. But I will say that even though his music doesn’t make me want to immediately hit up someone who still falls under the “fair game” rule, it does give me that last practice before the big game feeling. That last session where you run over the plays and make sure you know the complete ins and outs of your position to ensure a victory on game day.

p.s. I was totally listening to Corinne Bailey Rae’s debut album while composing this. It has nothing to do with this post but I wanted to add that piece of info in there.

1 This rule is the one that applies to that one ex, it doesn’t matter what your situation is or what their situation is, given the opportunity (it doesn’t even have to be the right opportunity, just any type of alone-ness) , you both would still fluff each other’s brains out (some brain would definitely be included too). Kind of like a cooch/dick coupon that doesn’t expire.

More Lil Wayne MTV VMA 2011 promos.

I think it’s cool how he’s basically headlining all the promotion for MTV’s Video Music Awards. I also think it was somewhat “clever” of him to drop Tha Carter IV exclusively on iTunes right after the VMAs finishes airing. Even though the marketing strategy behind it wasn’t that original since Jay-z & Kanye West executed the release of their album the same way a few weeks back.

Attempting to download this right now. Crappy website.

Wale finally posted an alternative link. Although it’s taking forever now, it’s downloading.

I’m really feeling this song. Has been added to plenty of mental playlists in the last few weeks. (It’ll make sense if you don’t question it.)

I don’t know what I was expecting the tracklisting to look like but for some reason when I looked at it I felt a small ounce of disappointment. Maybe I still have a sour taste in my mom from “Sorry 4 The Wait”. Anywho, I’m glad to see that there aren’t too many features on this album, that means there won’t be a lot of distractions and we’ll be able to just focus on Wayne.

Tha Carter IV drops August 28.

Trey Songz - Headlines(remix)

I applaud Trey for taking on this beat. I was actually jamming to it for a while, then it just started sounding like he was going off on a really long pointless tangent (but that’s what freestyles are tho right?). Nevertheless, it has that “grow on you” potential.

And if you have yet to hear the original version, check out Drake’s here
